Ch.10 Proposals and Formal Reports

I found this chapter very insightful for putting together a good proposal for my Unit 1 Project. First of all I learned about the difference between formal and informal proposals. While both are similar in conveying a desired outcome, a formal report tends to be lengthier and go into a bit more detail by adding more perspective on the proposal and checking a few more official boxes. I then read about the difference between reports and proposals, reports being more fact based and use prior research to make an informed recommendation, while proposals tend to be more about creating something that may not have already been done. However, both proposals and reports share formal and informal variations. When creating a report it is important to do proper research on primary and secondary sources and making sure that the data being analyzed is from a trustworthy and scholarly database. Primary research is more about surveying and meeting with individuals who can give first hand knowledge on the information you are trying to report. I also learned that it is important to create graphics for reports to better visualize data to your intended audience. This allows for a better conveying of your topic and can give better information to those who may be less informed about what it is you are presenting to them.
