Chapter 2 Responses

 1) Define communication. When is it successful? Communication is the transmission of information and meaning from a sender to a receiver. It is successful only when the receiver understands an idea as the sender intended it. 2) Describe the five steps in the process of communication. What can disrupt this process? 1. The sender has an idea, 2. the sender encodes the idea, 3. the sender selects channel and transmits message, 4. the receiver decodes the message, 5. feedback returns to the sender. Ch.10 Proposals and Formal Reports

I found this chapter very insightful for putting together a good proposal for my Unit 1 Project. First of all I learned about the difference between formal and informal proposals. While both are similar in conveying a desired outcome, a formal report tends to be lengthier and go into a bit more detail by adding more perspective on the proposal and checking a few more official boxes. However, both proposals and reports share formal and informal variations. When creating a report it is important to do proper research on primary and secondary sources and making sure that the data being analyzed is from a trustworthy and scholarly database. Primary research is more about surveying and meeting with individuals who can give first hand knowledge...

I believe that propeller guards can be a hinderance to safety rather than an improvement upon it and, in my opinion, there are many better options for improving motor boat safety at the club without the needless expense of prop guards.  The second topic that came to mind was the parking issues in my hometown neighborhood. I live in a townhouse community with alleyways leading into garages. There is street parking, but it is pretty limited. One issue we have been facing is people parking illegally and taking up fire lanes and overall cramming the limited space we already have on the roads in my neighborhood. This is an issue because it is...
